Is your Head on Straight?
When you look in a mirror do you notice that one shoulder is higher than the other, that one ear is lower than the other, that one hair line is not quite level with the other...well is your head on straight? Of course your head is on straight, but why are you able to see these variations in the mirror. That is your body trying to make you see the world on a level plain. In order for your brain to function and "enjoy" being in your head it needs to get information from your eyes and put them in ...
Use Your Trunk
As I was growing up playing this that and the other, I was always told the strength comes from the legs. This is mostly a true statement but in golf if your body does not know how to rotate the trunk efficiently your legs become just a pair of appendages. Three effective ways to improve Rotation: Seated rotation: sit with your feet and knees together, hold a band, tube, or cable machine. Hold the handle between your chest and your belly button and turn. Do three to six sets of 8 to 12. And do the individual sets at three ...
CAN GOLF MAKE ME HEALTHY?
The short answer is YES, golf can improve your health! This is a bold statement to make but what other activity allows you be social, active, enjoy the weather, and challenge you mentally all at once. Social: Whether you are with old friends or meeting new people there is a lot of time to create a conversation on the course. Tell a joke or a story, develop and nourish relationships, HAVE FUN ! Active: Even if you ride the in the cart you must walk from the cart to your ball, swing the club, and walk back to the cart. That may not ...
Downtime Improvement
Limited twilight golf, less late afternoon tee times, colder and wetter weather conditions, and many other distractions to the golf game come around this time of year. We just passed Halloween, I did not see any golfer outfits, but I do know that once Halloween ends it is time to gear up for the rest of the holidays. With less time on the green it is still possible to take it up a notch or two. Imagine coming back to the course next year with 10 or more yards on your drive, more consistency in your swing biomechanics, less chance ...
Dominate and Non Dominate
How many golfers are ambidextrous? Not very many and even if they were they don’t use that ability all that often because that would add too many clubs to the bag. Also it is rare that there are two outs in the ninth and the golfers is pinch hitting. Therefore the majority of golfers have a dominate side on the golf course. This happens can both help and hinder the golf game. Most golfers, if they practice, practice just on the driving range hitting there clubs over and over and over again with a similar movement every time. The differences ...
BACK to the basics
As I was working with one of my clients this morning I decided to go back to the basics with him. I decided this for two reasons the first was he reinjured himself and two I needed to educate a few points again. So I am going back to the basics. The nervous system is the controller of all body function. The brain and body have to communicate for proper movement, proprioception, pain, relief, and on. Golf Swing à Is a coordinated and delicate movement that requires the body and brain to be in tune. Pain à Occurs when an event creates ...
Are Tigers Muscles Too Big?
The announcers for this past weekend tournament were commenting that Tiger Woods may have become too muscular for his swing. I have been going over this theory in my head and I would have to disagree. The idea is that if you are too big you lose flexibility and you have to modify your swing to adapt for the size and shape of your body. I do agree that as you build muscle and your body becomes bigger adaptations must occur. I do not think that ultimately it changes your swing so much that you ...

Changes to the Nervous System = changes to the swing. What is the nervous system?
